Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all our friends and family!!

Monday, December 7, 2009

Hey, hey, hey...he keeps on growin'!!

Joshua had his 1 year "well baby" check up this morning. He had grown almost an inch to 31.3 inches and had gained almost 2 pounds, 25lbs. 3 oz. He was a trooper today as he got 3 shots and they took blood to check for lead and his cell count, standard procedure they tell me.

On Sunday, some of the family came over for ice cream and cake. Both Grandmas were there. They went with us to Jeremy's first basketball game beforehand. Jeremy's team played well and they won. Jeremy had some extremely well played defensive plays. He had some good shots but they just didn't go in.

There's talk of snow here the next couple of days and very cold weather. It was a little icy here this morning but main roads were good. Stay warm everyone!!

Pictures from the Hockey game we went to and Mommy's birthday

We watched the Roadrunners hockey team on November 21.

The fans: Joshua, Di, Westyn and Jeremy

Di with her birthday cake.

Di got some flannel pjs from the boys.

Pictures of Joshua's 1st Birthday

The cake below was made by Jeremy. We think he did a great job!! It was delicious! Josh loved it so much he smeared it all over his tray and his face, as seen to the left!!

Here is Josh with some of his birthday presents. As you can see in the background, we have to fence off the Christmas tree or someone thinks all of those ornaments are his play toys!!

Here is a video of Josh opening one of his birthday gifts, with lots of help from Jeremy.

The BIG 1

Well, it's been 1 year since we got that very special call to fly out to Eugene, OR and meet our new son, Joshua!! That was a very special time for us and this first year has been a wonderful time for us, as well. Joshua has grown a lot from that little baby we picked up for the first time in the hospital. We won't have official weight and height till Dec. 7 when he has his 1 year check up, but we know he is getting heavier!! He continues to develope at a normal, if not quicker, pace. He's been walking since 10 months, but still has that "drunken sailor" swagger every now and then. He is in to everything and he still just gives us "a smile" when we tell him "no". We do believe he is starting to understand, because there are times that he will walk away from you if you are trying to get something from him.

Joshua is a wonderful child and is a delight to be around. He laughs all of the time and has a very hearty laugh when he's tickled!! He's a great eater. He ate just as much as Jeremy on Thanksgiving! Jeremy spent the rest of the weekend telling us that he was eating more than Josh!! I guess he didn't like being outdone by his brother!!

Joshua now has 12 teeth!! He has 4 front upper and 4 front lower and 2 upper and 2 lower back teeth. Thus with that many teeth, he can pretty much eat whatever we eat. So "no more" baby food!!! Josh seems to be happy about that! He's also switched to cow's milk. We are pretty happy about that!! No more formula!!

We will be posting pictures after tonight when he gets his presents, etc.

Happy 1st Birthday, Son!! We Love you!

Happy Birthday, Mommy!

It's Mommy's (Di) birthday today. We celebrated this weekend by going to Topeka and staying at the Holiday Inn that has a 3 story water slide!! Jeremy and his friend Westyn had a blast!! We went out to dinner and went to our first hockey game. The Roadrunners were fun to watch. Didn't see any fights, though!! Went back to the room so the boys could swim and Mama could watch the K-State game. Too bad they lost!!! We will try to get some pictures posted later of the hockey game, etc.

Joshua turns 11 months old

Joshua was 11 months yesterday, November 2. Jeremy is already making out lists, birthday and Christmas, for Joshua. Jeremy thinks he has a good grasp of what Joshua wants!! We all spent the weekend at Grandma H's. Kids went Trick or Treating around Grandma's neighborhood and to a few relatives. They got lots of goodies. Also, one of Di's aunts passed away and the funeral was on Monday. She was 91 and had a very good long life. We will miss her. So we had a long weekend at Grandma's with lots of time with the relatives.

Joshua hasn't changed much this month. He's grown a little. He has gotten 2 new teeth. He is now drinking some cow's milk as we are mixing in a little with his formula. He seems to do OK with it. He now walks every where, rather than crawl. He will crawl if he falls down and there isn't anything close to help him get back up.

We were able to get his flu shot and the H1N1 shot so hopefully he won't get any of the nasty sicknesses going around.

Jeremy's football ended last Saturday. They lost 8-0. It was a hard fought game. They ended up in 3rd place which is really good for their first year. Now he starts basketball. Practice starts tonight and is 2 nights a week. They will play most of their games on the weekend. He is playing with several boys that he played football with.

We will try to post pictures in the very near future. Happy Tuesday!

Joshua's First Hair Cut

Though Joshua's hair wasn't quite ready for braiding it was getting pretty long in the back so Jackie took him into J's Salon so that Shannon could give him his first haircut. Thanks to Chelee for acting as the camera woman.

Jeremy at KSU Stadium

Jeremy had his 3rd game in KSU Stadium on Sunday. As you can see, the team got to run down the runway, just like the Wildcats do!!

Jeremy's in this pile, believe me.

Here's Jeremy on defense. (12)

Here's another defensive picture.

Here's our star linebacker!! They didn't win the game, but they played a good game. They lost 12 to 15.

These great pictures were taken by our friend Linda. Thanks, Linda!

Jeremy won 41-0 on Saturday

Jeremy's team won Saturday 41-0! They are 4-1 now. And it was cold!! Spent Sunday cleaning out the camper :-( I can't believe camping season is over.

Guess who is walking?

Joshua is now walking. He is still a little wobbly, but can walk from room to room. So officially at 10 months, one week, he is walking. And he is showing signs of wanting to eat what we are eating and not wanting his baby food. He still wants cereal, though.

Jeremy has a football game on Sat. It will be cold!!! High is supposed to be 39. Joshua will stay with his aunt so he doesn't have to go out in the cold. Jeremy's team is 3-1. They did lose last Sunday, but it was a practice game against 4th graders. After this Sat. they have 2 more regular season games and then could be in the playoffs. He sure is liking playing football.

Everybody stay warm this weekend!!

Joshua is 10 months old

Here's the 10 month old! Our friend Mary Kay took this picture. It is so cute, we thought we would use it on this blog, as well. Joshua is doing great. He isn't walking totally yet, but takes several steps and then decides crawling is faster. He is starting to put sounds together, like MAMA! Ha! Ha! Everyone else says he is not saying Mama. Jackie (Mama) thinks he is saying it!!!! He is eating quite a bit of food that we eat. We still suppliment it with his food, but it won't be long and he'll just eat what we do. He already outeats Jeremy at meal time!!! Grandma H was up last Saturday and Sunday, so the boys enjoyed having her around to spoil them. Friday night the boys and Jackie went to see Grandma T. We mowed her lawn and then went out for dinner. It was a very nice evening. This weekend will be spent at football games and the camper. Only have 2 more weekends, so we got to get our time in!!
Below is a picture that Mary Kay took of us all. She does a great job with pictures! Thanks Mary Kay!!
Jeremy, Jackie, Joshua and Di

Josh is mowing our screened in porch.

He can walk the whole length of the porch when he has the mower to hang on to.

He is just mowing and mowing and mowing!!

Joshua got a chocolate cookie..which he liked a whole lot!!

Here is a picture of Jeremy at KSU stadium. You can see his mohawk!! This pic is compliments of our friend Linda.
They played in the stadium last Sunday and won 14-12. They are now 2-1. They play this weekend on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday is in Topeka and Sunday is at the stadium.

Here is what Joshua thinks of football games...let me nap!!!

Joshua attends Jeremy's first official football game

Jeremy, number 12, is getting ready to play defense.

Jeremy with Coach Pete and his team mates.

Jeremy, number 12, getting in the action. They lost the game by one touchdown, but played a good game. Jeremy played both offensive line and defensive line most of the game. He was pretty worn out, but had a blast!!

Joshua got the leftover orange from Jeremy during halftime. We gave him some peaches, too, which he liked. He has now taken 5 steps at one time!!!

Joshua is sucking on an orange peel during halftime!! All of these pics are compliments of our friend Linda. Thanks, Linda!!

He's growing by leaps and bounds!!

At Joshua's 9 month Doctor's appointment, he weighed 23 pounds, 1 ounce and was 30.5 inches tall. He is taking at least 2 steps at a time, now. Dr. said he was doing great. He sings quite a bit. Especially in my "lumber wagon" truck...he sings and the vibration of the truck sounds funny to him!! He knows which roads are the bumpiest!!

We had a good relaxing weekend at the lake last weekend. It was nice.

Happy 9 month Birthday to Joshua!

Joshua in his lifejacket after his swim in the lake.

Here's Joshua on his 9 month birthday! He has taken a step and he can stand for a couple of minutes unassisted, but not quite ready to walk yet. But, I think he will walk soon. He is starting to be resistant to going to other people. He fusses a little when I take him to childcare in the mornings. Unless a stranger will hold his hands and walk with him, he doesn't want much to do with them. We had Di's family picnic this last weekend and that's what some of them had to do to get to be around him. He continues to be a good baby and laughs a lot. He has the greatest smile!! He is mostly in 18 month clothes. Pants are a little long, but other than that, everything fits good. I'll try to post later what his height and weight are. We go to the Dr. on Friday.

Last night Jeremy had a scrimmage football game at Clay Center, so we went up and visited Grandma T. Then we all went to the game. Jeremy plays on the line and is very tough!!! His first real game is Sept. 12.

We plan on spending this weekend at the lake. It's not supposed to be real warm so tubing may not happen. Maybe we'll get some fishing in. As long as there is R and R !!!

Everybody have a good Labor Day weekend!

Joshua is 8 months old

Joshua turned 8 months old on August 2. Whew!!! This 8 months sure went fast. We spent his 8 month birthday at the lake, of course. We went out on the boat and let the big boys tube, more like para-sailing, it was so windy!!! They had a blast! Joshua and Jeremy are at Grandma H's one last time before summer ends and we all have to get back to our routines. They will be home tomorrow. Jeremy has started tackle football practice. They start full pads tomorrow evening, so of course it got hot this week!! 105 heat index today!

Joshua contines to crawl everywhere, get in to everything and pull himself up on everything that he can reach. He is developing quite the little personality. He laughs a lot. Of course it's Jeremy's responsibility to make him laugh as much as possible. That's what big brothers are for. Joshua has become very independent. He doesn't want held too much anymore. He wants down and to be moving!! And he keeps moving until he just can't stay awake cause it's nap time. He doesn't like to be put to sleep. He fights it tooth and nail!! But usually sleep wins!!

We are taking Friday off this week and spending a long weekend at the lake. Our last hoorah before school starts! Hope everyone has a good week.

Went to the fair
